Scorpions and Deep Purple Among Bands Working on a New Album in 2019
Classic rock bands Scorpions and Deep Purple are both planning to hit the studio to record new albums in 2019.
German rock legends Scorpions are gearing up to record a "historic" new album with a "famous" producer according to guitarist Rudolf Schenker. Their last full length studio album was 2015's Return To Forever which comprised of songs that the band had in the vault from the ‘80’s. Singer Klaus Meine recently gave his thoughts about the band making a new album stating, "At the end of the day, to make an album, to go back into the studio, you have to have the feeling we have great material—-there are great songs, and it's time now to do it, and really to top yourself — at least give it a try.”
Deep Purple’s guitarist Steve Morse announced at the recent NAMM show that they are preparing a new record this year. While speaking with Andertons Music Co. Morse said, “We’re starting two albums – one with Flying Colors and one with Deep Purple.” The new album will follow up their 2017 release InFinite. As for touring to promote the new record, Morse stated, “I don’t know. This year, I think it might be the US, but there's nothing booked for sure. I'm running on rumor power! “
Other classic rock bands that have recently announced upcoming new albums are Kansas and Skid Row.
