Queen + Adam Lambert Open Oscars and Bohemian Rhapsody Wins Four Awards

Queen + Adam Lambert kicked off last night’s Oscars with a rocking performance of “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions.” To top that off, the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody won four awards: Best Lead Actor (Rami Malek), Film Editing, Sound Editing, and Sound Mixing.

Malek gave an emotional speech drawing parallels between his upbringing and that of Freddie Mercury’s. Accepting his award, Malek told the audience, "We made a film about a gay man, an immigrant, who lived his life just unapologetically himself, and the fact that I'm celebrating him and this story with you tonight is proof that we're longing for stories like this. I am the son of immigrants from Egypt. I'm a first-generation American, and part of my story is being written right now.”
